About Me: About Me

Hello, I'm J’elchri, but most people call me Jel. I'm a registered Nutritional Therapist (NT) running an online service. My journey into this field started by accident after I became unwell in 2016. For years, I went back and forth to my GP, trying to get to the bottom of my issues, but I never seemed to get any real answers. I experienced a range of symptoms, from persistent gut issues, depression, and hair loss to hormone imbalances, but no one could tell me why. Meanwhile, my health continued to deteriorate, and I felt like I was spiraling into further illness.

In my frustration, and after much research into my symptoms, I decided to see a nutritional therapist. This was the turning point that began my true healing journey. Within six months of working with an NT, I knew I wanted to dive deeper into understanding how my body worked. I became fascinated by the interconnectedness of the body’s systems and the importance of looking at the body as a whole in order to achieve long-term health and wellness.

As I began my training to become a Nutritional Therapist, I stopped seeing my own NT, feeling that I was now the best person to understand the right course of action for my health based on my studies. My training took four years instead of three because it took time for me to reach my own health goals. Now, as a registered NT, I am committed to ongoing education, staying up-to-date with the latest findings in the field. I've also pursued additional training in areas such as the nervous system, stress, trauma, and their roles in impacting health.

Through my own experience, I discovered that stress and trauma were deeply impacting my health and were at the root of many of my gut issues. This connection was eye-opening for me. While it may not be the root cause for everyone’s gut health concerns, stress, trauma, and the nervous system certainly play a role to some degree. Everything is interconnected; our mental, emotional, and physical states are all linked, and one aspect of our health can greatly influence the others.

To deepen my understanding of the nervous system’s role, I’ve trained in Polyvagal Theory with Deb Dana, a licensed clinical social worker and one of the foremost experts in trauma and the autonomic nervous system. Deb Dana has worked closely with Dr. Stephen Porges, the creator of Polyvagal Theory, and her work has greatly influenced my understanding of how our nervous system reacts to stress and trauma, and how these responses affect our health. I’m particularly interested in how this theory intersects with concepts like the Inner Child and how past experiences shape our physical well-being today.

My mission is to help others, especially to empower them with the knowledge that we can take much more responsibility for our health than we often think.

Before working with a Nutritional Therapist, I was made to feel that my symptoms were "all in my head," and I never felt truly heard. This experience is why it’s so important to me to create a space where my clients can share their stories and feel acknowledged.

Through my own health journey and further training, I now specialise in gut and hormone health, as well as the associated conditions. Many conditions that may seem unrelated to gut and hormone health often are. For example, Endometriosis and Adenomyosis are closely linked to gut health, both of which I have been diagnosed with. As a result of my experience, I will work with you to uncover the root causes of your health concerns, rather than just treating the symptoms. I want to help you learn to tune into your body and understand the messages it’s sending.

As a holistic practitioner, my philosophy is to view each client as a whole person. It's not just about fixing your diet or treating a specific condition. It’s about creating a mind-body-spirit connection to your entire being. By adopting this approach, you’ll begin to understand how various aspects of your life, such as lifestyle, mindset, beliefs, and energy, impact your overall health and wellness.

In 2024, I began hosting retreats abroad and events in the UK, which explore all aspects of well-being and the powerful connection between mind, body, and spirit. These gatherings are designed to immerse you in holistic healing, allowing you to experience the profound benefits of connecting with your whole body in a supportive and nurturing environment. Whether you prefer working 1:1 with me or meeting me at one of my events, I look forward to being part of your well-being journey.

If you’d like to work with me, I offer different packages to suit your budget and health needs. If you’re unsure how long you’d benefit from working together, based on your specific condition, I also offer a free 20-minute discovery call to discuss your options and help you decide the best course of action for your health.

I look forward to hearing from you and being a part of your well-being journey.
